Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority
The Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority is a scheme whereby the Government provides compensation for the victims of crime where injury is caused even if the offender is untraced / unknown.
The matter must have been reported to the Police at the earliest opportunity and the victim must co-operate fully with the police in their investigations.
Compensation is awarded strictly in accordance with a schedule of damages laid out under the scheme.
These claims must be maid within 2 years of the date of the incident.
