JSP Corporate Social Responsibility
JSP Solicitors is a responsible firm committed to our clients and our community. As such, we take Social Responsibility very seriously. We choose to involve ourselves with initiatives that support these commitments in an appropriate and sustainable manner.
Our CSR priorities are two fold:
- Supporting our clients
- Supporting our community
We support initiatives and organisations that affect the types of situations faced by our clients. Where we can help to provide more support than purely our legal work, we will. Where we can assist in supporting groups that support our clients and other people in similar situations, we do.
We also focus our efforts on our community, as our roots are firmly grounded in our regional location. Believing in and assisting local endeavours has a firm commitment from all members of staff.
Lincolnshire Road Safety Partnership
We see first-hand the devastating effects of road traffic accidents. We have been working with the LRSP for over 5 years to promote safe driving. We donated a substantial amount of money which has been used for various events over the year - the BikeSafe campaign, the launch of the Employers Charter Conference, publication of a Young Driver Handbook and a new hi-tech vehicle to give workshops. www.roadlincs.com.
Lincolnshire Family Mediation Services
James Smith our Managing Partner has been a Trustee of LFMS, an independent not for profit mediation service for many years. The organisation mediates in neighbourhood disputes, community issues, anti social behaviour and family issues. www.lfms.org.uk.
Headway, (The Brain Injury Association)
Many of our clients have suffered severe brain injuries and we encourage them to seek support from Headway. In turn, we actively support Headway to promote awareness of brain injury locally and nationally. Uniformity of diagnosis and treatment across the Lincolnshire region is of particular concern to us. www.headway.org.uk.
Spinal Injuries Association
With a growing number of clients who have experienced serious spinal injury, we are keen to promote the work of the Spinal Injuries Association. Our first initiative to raise money and awareness for the SIA is through our sponsorship of the Lincoln 10KRun. We plan to seek other ways to contribute in the future.
These relationships are very valuable as a real benefit to our clients, enabling us to offer a more in-depth service treating the whole of their situation, rather than merely the legal side. www.spinal.co.uk.
NHS sponsorship
We have actively supported the United Lincolnshire Hospitals Trust for a number of years. This support has taken a variety of forms from donating wheelchairs and water fountains to sponsoring the staff Long Service Awards and Maternity Pack.
City of Lincoln 10K Roadrace
The City of Lincoln 10K Roadrace takes place every year and the route goes past the JSP offices on Riseholme Road. The race is open to athletes of all abilities and attracts several thousand competitors from the Lincoln region and nationally. JSP Solicitors support the race every year by running it themselves, sponsoring trophies, providing drinks for runners and spectators. In 2008 JSP staff raised money for the British Heart Foundation.
Pro Bono Work
JSP Solicitors is a member of the Solicitors Pro Bono Group. The Group delivers free legal help to those who do not qualify for legal aid and who are in need of advice for themselves or a not-for-profit organisation.
Keith's Rescue Dogs
This dog rescue charity in Lincolnshire was set up by Keith Smith, the husband of one of our employees, Pam Smith. The organisation has charity status and has nine trustees of which, Pam and James Smith, our Managing Partner are two. The rescued dogs live in kennels and at any one time there are approximately 30. They are given a full check up and any necessary treatment before a loving home is found for them. A charity shop in Queen Street, Spilsby raises funds in conjunction with donations and other fundraising activities. JSP Solicitors is keen to support the work of our employees and all staff are encouraged to contribute in whatever way possible. www.keithsrescuedogs.org.
Clean Air Award
JSP Solicitors has won the Clean Air Award for providing Smoke Free Air for employees and clients. The Clean Air Awards are awarded by the Smokefree Lincs Alliance, a working party of organisations and key people promoting tobacco control and smoking cessation in Lincolnshire. JSP has been smoke free for a number of years. The firm's policy is to provide a safe and pleasant working environment.
Skegness Group of Churches
We actively support the churches and help with fundraising whenever possible.
