Vibration White Finger

This condition is mainly caused by exposure to hand held vibration tools such as jack hammers, which cause damage to the vascular system (thickening of the wall of small arteries) and in the more severe cases, damage to the nerves of the hand. It is also recognised now that exposure to excessive vibration can result in the development of carpal tunnel syndrome. Symptoms include tingling, numbness, loss of sensation and blanching (whiteness) of the fingers. There is no effective treatment for VWF however in the case of CTS surgery may improve the symptoms.
